A letter to the Presbytery of New Brunswick:

The WESTMINSTER FOUNDATION of

BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

Connecting Presbyterians to dynamic diversity

Thank you for the connection and partnership that you have had with Bloomfield College.  I wanted to write you as the presbytery’s new representative to the Westminster Foundation Board of the college.

 WHO IS BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE?

Do you know someone who would benefit from a dynamic, racially diverse school that has over 2000 students from 50 nations and a student faculty ratio of 14:1?

…and that school is a 60 mile drive from the southern end of the presbytery?

…and is related to the Presbyterian Church (USA)?

…and is the only Presbyterian related college in our synod?

Description: Bloomfield College is an independent, four-year, coeducational college, affiliated with Presbyterian Church (USA). Founded in 1868, the College's mission is to prepare students to attain academic, personal and professional excellence in a multicultural and global society.   www.bloomfield.edu

WHO IS THE WESTMINSTER FOUNDATION?

The Westminster board exists at Bloomfield College to promote an awareness and connection between the college community and the Presbyterian Church.  We are a board consisting of members from the Presbytery’s throughout New Jersey and New York City.

 Our work includes…

·        Supporting BC’s excellent Director of Spiritual Life, Rev. Todd Shumpert

·        Offering Fall and Spring banquets to invite interested parties to learn about BC

(keep your eye open for our upcoming Spring Evening Event)

·        exploring if it is possible to partner with the Christmas Joy Offering  (US. News and Report has listed BC third for racially diversity!)

·        Raising money for college scholarships

·        Getting the word out about Bloomfield College!

 HOW CAN I BECOME CONNECTED?

·        Include our brochure you received along with this letter in your Sunday morning bulletin

·        Share a financial gift.  Please include Westminster Foundation in the memo line.

·        Come and visit the college for yourself.

·        Have your high school young adults take a college tour of Bloomfield.

I look forward to serving the Presbytery as your representative to the Bloomfield College Westminster Foundation.  I love Bloomfield College and all the good work they are doing!   You should know that New Brunswick Presbytery member Belinda Newhart has just completed her time as the President of the Foundation!  Thank you Belinda, job well done!

If I can be of any help in your growing interest in Bloomfield College, please feel free to contact me at kengoodtaiyes@yahoo.com

Peace to those who are learning and those who teach,

Ken Good

The Social Witness Committee bears witness to God's gift of love in Jesus Christ by signifying  the peace, justice, light and love of the Kingdom of God that Christ proclaimed. The Committee  seeks to fulfill one of the great ends of the church by promoting social justice righteousness  through (1)focusing the attention, education and efforts of the Presbytery on one or two particular social justice issues at any given time - to enable the Presbytery to work together in its expression of social witness - and (2) encouraging, assisting and networking individuals and congregations within the Presbytery in their work for justice and peace.
